2014 Spring Camp Report
Wow, what a weekend! We took 23 children in need down to the campsite over the Labour Day long weekend and gave them a well deserved break. We had some children who spent years travelling from refugee camp to refugee camp, some children from Kangaroo Island and lots of other children who have experienced hardship at home or at school.
We were lucky enough to go the Greenhills Adventure Park and the kids had one of the best days ever. We did just about everything including water slides, paddle boats, aqua bikes, archery, pedal karts, flying foxes, dry slides and mini golf! I’m pretty sure the kids didn’t want to leave at the end of the day.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement, we also had a bonfire and toasted marshmallows, watched some movies, went to the local playground and had some free time at the campsite. It was a great weekend with a great group of kids.
Thanks to the leaders Claire Langsford, Jess Halligan, Matt Cooper, Mel Mehuys and Edith Putu. Thanks also to our volunteer bus driver Andrew Glover who took us all the places we needed to go.
The next camp is the Summer Camp (27-31 December) for children in need aged 7 to 11 years old. Can’t wait!
