Over the past few years, we have been successful in receiving various Grants, and help from volunteers, which have enabled us to continue to improve our campsite facilities:
VOLLEYBALL COURT LIGHTING UPGRADED
We acknowledge with thanks the 2009 Grant received from City of Victor Harbor, which has enabled us to provide lighting to the Volleyball Court, which was upgraded with a Council Grant in 2008.
WORK FOR THE DOLE SCHEME
Through Employment Options, we have undertaken CWC/Sponsor Contract to provide work to participants in the WFD Program. This program allows several people to participate in the construction of a decked walkway through the scrub at the Toc H Campsite, under the supervision of one of our kind volunteers.
'Under this Program in 2010, cladding has been added to the Recreation Hut and bunkhouses 7 and 8 to cover the original galvanised iron, which now blend in with other buildings at the campsite.'
This is a most valuable agreement, both for Toc H and the participants, who gain new skills. We are most grateful to the Federal Government, Employment Options and their staff for this opportunity.
CAMP UPGRADE GRANT
In 2006 we received a Grant from the Department of Transport and Regional Services, which resulted in sufficient capital to allow us to undertake the following major improvements at our campsite, which were completed in 2007. A new shower/toilet block was built (at the end of the main dormitory) to specifications to suit disabled people, which is a most useful amenity for all campers. Leading out from the main hall a covered, decked veranda has been erected, with café blinds, which is proving a wonderful asset. This area can be used for meals, group discussions, craft and various other activities, even in inclement weather. We gratefully acknowledge the wonderful support of DOTARS, which, together with a bequest from a former member, a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Victor Harbor, and the volunteer labour supplied by the Lions Club of Victor Harbor and Port Elliot in the construction of the decking, enabled this upgrade to be achieved.
We also wish to thank the following:
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Brighton and the Kiwanis Club of Reedbeds who have volunteered at several working bees at our campsite.
Members of the Victor Harbor Toc H Branch, and other volunteers who continually give so generously of their time to help with various tasks at the campsite.
